Abstract

The discipline of tawjih is regarded as a novel knowledge that is currently seen as important despite that it has long been established in Islamic heritage, especially in the field of Qiraat. Among of its importance; the discipline of tawjih is connecting the disputed phrases of Qiraat to other Islamic disciplines of knowledge such as lughah (language), tafsir (exegesis), fiqh (jurisprudence) and others. Besides of explaining the meaning of those disputed phrases, it is indirectly depicting the intact relationship between discipline of tawjih and the other disciplines of Islamic knowledge. Arguments through tawjih Qiraat able to defend the discipline of Qiraat from accusations amongst individuals who doubt the credibility of this knowledge as a text of qat’i (definitive). The discipline of tawjih should be pioneered in the development of the knowledge of Qiraat, hence it is not seen as merely theoretical and the reading-based knowledge alone.
