Private Armaments Technology in Islamic Military History during Ayyubid Era

Abstract

The scope of the military aspects in Islam is one aspect of a broad and divergent. This study discusses the history of military Ayubbi times especially during the reign of Sultan Salah al-Din al-Ayubi. Given the scope of the study is too broad Ayyubid military then this study will focus on the private weapons technology during the Ayyubid Islamic army. The aim of this study was to identify the private weapons technology during the Ayyubid, especially during periods of jihad or crusade. In addition, this study will also analyze the level of power consumption equipment such weapons. Overall this study using qualitative research approach through historical study method and content analysis as research for the book or the book under review. The results showed private military weapons technology Islam Ayyubid period reached a level to be proud and it can be offset and surpassed weapons technology owned by the Crusaders. As a result of the completeness of such weapons, the Muslims can defend Islamic territory from the invasion of the Crusaders. In addition, the Muslim army under the leadership of Sultan Salah al-Din had successfully recaptured the Bayt al-Maqdis.
