Penglibatan dalam kesukarelawanan mendatangkan pelbagai manfaat bukan sahaja kepada individu tetapi juga kepada masyarakat dan negara. Walau bagaimanapun, ketidakaktifan penglibatan generasi muda terutamanya mahasiswa membimbangkan pelbagai pihak. Selain ketidakaktifan, isu pengekalan sukarelawan dalam organisasi juga menjadi satu cabaran terutamanya kepada pihak pengurusan sukarelawan. Keadaan ini menyebabkan berlakunya krisis sumber tenaga sukarelawan yang menyukarkan perlaksanaan sesuatu program kesukarelawanan. Isu pengekalan sukarelawan dapat dikaitkan dengan pelbagai faktor sama ada disebabkan kewujudan pelbagai halangan ataupun disebabkan oleh kelemahan dalam pengurusan pertubuhan sukarela itu sendiri. Sehubungan itu, kajian ini dijalankan untuk mengkaji apakah amalan-amalan pengurusan pertubuhan sukarela dalam memastikan pengekalan atau komitmen sukarelawan bagi jangka masa yang lama. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif yang menggunakan soal selidik melalui online survey yang disediakan melalui google form. Seramai 50 orang mahasiswa yang menganggotai persatuan Sukarelawan Siswa Unisza (PERSIS) telah dipilih sebagai responden kajian. Data yang diperoleh telah dianalisis dengan menggunakan perisian SPSS versi 26. Amalan pengurusan sukarela dilihat daripada enam aspek iaitu melibatkan skop kerja, perancangan dan penyusunan program yang baik, sokongan dan motivasi pihak pengurusan, pembahagian tugasan yang bersesuaian, penghargaan dan pengiktirafan serta pemberian autonomi kepada sukarelawan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan sebilangan besar responden bersetuju (>80%) bahawa aspek tersebut perlu diberi perhatian oleh pengurusan sukarelawan bagi memastikan pengekalan sukarelawan dalam aktiviti kesukarelawanan.

Abstract

Involvement in volunteerism brings multiple benefits not only to individuals but also to society and the country. However, lack of participation by the younger generation especially university students is worrying to many parties. Apart from this lack of participation, the issue of volunteer retention in an organization is also becoming a challenge, particularly to the management of volunteer organizations. This situation has caused a manpower crisis that makes it difficult to execute volunteer programmes. The issue of volunteer retention can be attributed to many factors, including the existence of many obstacles or weakness in the management of volunteer organizations. Therefore, this research was conducted to study the management practices of volunteer organizations in ensuring the retention of or commitment from volunteers in the long term. This study uses the quantitative approach, through questionnaires via online surveys that are prepared in the google form format. There were 50 students chosen as respondents, from members of Sukarelawan Siswa Unisza (PERSIS). Data acquired were analysed using the SPSS version 26 software. The management of volunteers was examined from six aspects, namely scope of work, planning of programmes, support and motivation from the management, appropriate delegation of tasks, appreciation and recognition, and the granting of autonomy to the volunteers. Results from the study show that a big portion of the respondents (>80%) agree that the aspects mentioned should be given attention by the management of volunteer organizations to ensure the retention of volunteers in volunteerism activities.
