Mendepani Cabaran Literasi Pembelajaran Bahasa Melayu dalam Kalangan Murid Orang Asli Jakun Lenga, Johor: Satu Tinjauan Awal [Challenges Facing Literacy Learning of Malay Language Among Students of Orang Asli Jakun, Lenga Johor: A Preliminary Survey]

Abstract

This study aims to identify the Malay language literacy teaching techniques as well as identify literacy problems experienced by Aboriginal students in Lenga, Johor. This study is a case study that uses a qualitative approach with purposive sampling techniques. A total of five teachers selected Malay language as well as the study participants used a sample survey of 23 students Jakun Aboriginal descent in Year 1 to Year 6. Location study focused study in a primary school in the area of oil. The study also used interview data supported by observational data and document analysis. The study found that teaching and learning techniques Malay Continued smoothly and systematically in accordance with the needs of students. The results of the observation also found that Orang Asli students were able to follow the teaching and learning in accordance with the activity plan determined by the teacher. However, there appear the main problems faced in literacy learning the Malay language is the issue of motivation and attitudes of mothers and fathers in the indigenous community to motivate their children to continue learning. In addition, the awareness factor of the Orang Asli community that does not place education as a guarantee in the future to continue to succeed. These factors also affect the interests of indigenous children to continue to learn the Malay language because they assume no interest to speak in Malay language inbunda against them. Therefore, the results of this study are expected to provide input to curriculum development, school administration and teachers who teach Orang Asli students.
